ChatGPT Ads went live in Singapore on 23 September 2026, so any Singapore business can now pay to appear inside ChatGPT conversations. For most owners the right move is a small, tightly tracked test rather than a big budget, and some industries cannot advertise there at all yet.
What exactly launched in Singapore?
OpenAI switched on ChatGPT Ads in Singapore on 23 September 2026, alongside Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan. That took the platform past 60 countries.
The important detail for owners is that Singapore is open for self-serve. You can create an account at ads.openai.com and run campaigns yourself, the same way you would on Google or Meta. You do not need to go through OpenAI’s sales team or one of the large agency networks it partnered with.

Who actually sees ChatGPT ads?
Only people on ChatGPT’s Free and Go plans see ads. Anyone paying for Plus, Pro or an Enterprise plan sees none.
That matters for who you reach. A meaningful slice of the most engaged, highest earning ChatGPT users pay for a plan and are therefore invisible to advertisers. If your customer is a senior professional who uses ChatGPT all day at work on a company plan, ads may not reach them.
How does it compare with Google and Meta?
| ChatGPT Ads | Google Search Ads | Meta Ads | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where the ad appears | Inside a ChatGPT conversation | Search results | Feeds, Stories, Reels |
| What triggers it | The topic of the conversation | The search keyword | Audience targeting |
| Track record in Singapore | Days old | Years | Years |
| Minimum daily budget | SGD 25 | No fixed minimum | No fixed minimum |
| Health, legal, most financial services | Generally prohibited outside the US | Allowed with restrictions | Allowed with restrictions |
The honest position is that nobody in Singapore has meaningful performance data on ChatGPT Ads yet. Google and Meta have years of benchmarks for your industry. ChatGPT has days.
What does it cost to start?
The minimum daily budget is SGD 25. Spend on any single day can reach twice your daily budget, and spend across seven days can reach seven times it, so set your budget expecting that flex.
There are three campaign objectives: Reach, Clicks and Conversions. You cannot change the objective once a campaign is created, so choose deliberately. For a first test, most service businesses should pick Clicks or Conversions rather than Reach.
How do I set up a ChatGPT Ads account?
Here is the short version. For every screen in order, with screenshots from a live Singapore account, use our step by step ChatGPT Ads setup guide.
- Create an account at ads.openai.com using your business details.
- Add a valid payment method. Nothing serves without one.
- Wait for the account review. In our own setup this showed as five to seven days, during which the account reads Not serving.
- Check your website is reachable. If you see a Business website unavailable warning, your site is blocking OpenAI’s crawlers. Allow OAI-AdsBot and OAI-SearchBot, then ask it to check again.
- Upload your real logo. The auto-generated draft we tested pulled the website favicon instead.
- Set up conversion tracking under Tools, Conversions, using the pixel or the Conversions API, before you spend anything meaningful.
What should I watch out for?
The setting most owners will miss is Text customisation. It is switched on by default, and it lets the platform rewrite and translate your ad copy, which can then be shown without you reviewing it. If your claims need to be precise, or your industry has advertising rules, switch it off.
Ad copy is tight. Titles cap at 50 characters and descriptions at 100, with a truncation warning appearing from roughly 48 characters. Images must be square and at least 256 pixels. Write for those limits rather than cutting down copy from another platform.
Which businesses should wait?
OpenAI’s ad policy, updated on 10 September 2026, generally prohibits health services, legal services and most financial services outside the United States. Clinics, aesthetics, dental practices, supplement brands and law firms cannot run ChatGPT Ads in Singapore at the moment.
Businesses with no conversion tracking in place should also wait. Testing a brand new channel without being able to measure enquiries is how budgets disappear with nothing learned.
Should I run ChatGPT Ads or focus on being recommended?
Both, but in that order of patience. Ads put you inside a conversation you paid to enter. AEO and GEO, answer engine and generative engine optimisation, earn you a place in ChatGPT’s own answer. That citation puts you there for free, every time someone asks, and it is unaffected by ad policy. A business that ChatGPT already recommends gets more out of ads, because the ad and the answer reinforce each other.
If you are going to test, run a short, small, fully tracked pilot, judge it on enquiries rather than clicks, and keep your Google and Meta budgets where they are until the numbers justify moving anything. If you would rather hand it over, we run ChatGPT Ads for Singapore businesses alongside Google and Meta so everything is measured in one place.
